Compounded semaglutide is custom-made by licensed pharmacies to meet patient-specific needs. These medications are prepared in accordance with federal and state laws, though they don't require FDA approval. Ozempic® and Wegovy® are brand names for Semaglutide (Ozempic® and Wegovy®). Ozempic® is FDA approved to lower blood sugar levels in adults with type 2 diabetes mellitus, in addition to diet and exercise as well as to reduce the risk of heart attack, stroke, or death in adults with type 2 diabetes mellitus and known heart disease. While it is not FDA approved for weight loss, it is used off-label for weight loss.
