On average, users of GLP-1 medications experience a weight reduction of approximately 15%, compared to just 2.4% with a placebo. Notably, even a modest weight loss of 5% can significantly benefit health conditions such as hypertension, cholesterol issues, cardiovascular diseases, PCOS, osteoarthritis, and more. However, GLP-1 medications work best with diet, exercise and lifestyle changes for sustained weight loss after you stop taking the medication.
Navigating the journey of weight loss can be daunting, but at Effecty, we’re here to make it simpler and more approachable. We recognize the hurdles and challenges that come with striving for sustainable weight loss. That's why we've crafted our services to not only be effective but also understanding and supportive. Our holistic approach seamlessly blends medical expertise with a deep understanding of individual challenges and needs. With Effecty, you're not just embarking on a journey of physical transformation but also experiencing care, support, and guidance every step of the way. We're committed to making weight management a more accessible and compassionate journey for everyone.
Medication Questions
Ozempic® and Wegovy® are brand names for Semaglutide (Ozempic® and Wegovy®). Ozempic® is FDA approved to lower blood sugar levels in adults with type 2 diabetes mellitus, in addition to diet and exercise as well as to reduce the risk of heart attack, stroke, or death in adults with type 2 diabetes mellitus and known heart disease. While it is not FDA approved for weight loss, it is used off-label for weight loss. Wegovy® is FDA approved for chronic weight management in adults with obesity or overweight with at least one weight-related condition (such as high blood pressure, type 2 diabetes, or high cholesterol), for use in addition to a reduced calorie diet and increased physical activity.
While the compounded versions also contain Semaglutide, the compounded versions are not FDA approved. However, the compounding pharmacies used by Effecty source semaglutide with the same chemical makeup as the brand name versions.
Oral Semaglutide is semaglutide that is administered as liquid drops that are absorbed sublinguallyinto the blood stream through the tissue beneath the tongue, thereby bypassing initial liver metabolism for rapid effectiveness and designed to be taken first thing in the morning. These oral drops aid in the passage of semaglutide molecules through the mucosal membrane, enhancing therapeutic benefits.Oral Semaglutide offers flexibility, and ease of administration, making it a convenient alternative to injections. This provides a more cost-effective solution tailored to yourhealth goals.
While GLP-1 medications are generally well-tolerated, some common side effects include nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, constipation, and abdominal pain. It's important to note that there are also rarer and more significant side effects associated with these medications, such as pancreatitis, gallstones, and kidney issues. Please see our full informed consent and list of potential risks here. Check out our blog post on holistic ways to alleviate side effects.

Determining the duration of medication use varies significantly from person to person, as obesity is a complex and often chronic condition influenced by genetics and other factors. For many, ongoing treatment with weight loss medication may be necessary, even after achieving weight goals, to help maintain the loss and prevent associated chronic conditions like heart disease, high blood pressure, and type 2 diabetes. The Obesity Medicine Association recommends considering long-term medication as a standard part of obesity care. As you near your target weight, your Effecty medical provider can assist in developing a tailored maintenance plan. Should you choose to discontinue the medication, your provider will guide you on how to safely taper off the treatment.
Effecty works with state-licensed compounding pharmacies for treatment fulfillment. Compounding is regulated by both FDA and state boards of pharmacy.
At Effecty, your health and safety are always at the forefront of our decision-making. There are occasions when pre-existing conditions, specific aspects of your medical history, current health data, or potential medication interactions may indicate that our prescription options might not be right for you. In such cases, we might not be able to provide medication-based treatment. It's important to remember that while prescription medication can be a powerful tool for weight loss, it's not the only path to achieving healthy and sustainable weight loss. We're committed to supporting your wellness journey and encourage you to explore other avenues to health and success.
After you purchase the medication, you can expect a doctor to reach out to you within 24 hours. After the prescription is written, it can take up to 5 - 7 business days for your prescription to ship (via free expedited 2 day shipping). However, orders are currently shipping quicker than that.

Provider Questions
Consultations with a healthcare provider is a key part of our membership benefits. To access this service, membership purchase and completion of a medical intake form are necessary prerequisites. This process ensures that a licensed medical provider can thoroughly evaluate your eligibility for medication and discuss all available treatment options during your initial consultation. Please note that your credit card is not charged immediately; instead, a hold is placed until your eligibility is confirmed. In the event that you are not deemed eligible for medication, rest assured that your card will not be charged.
Beginning your journey with Effecty is seamless. After you submit your medical intake forms, a licensed medical provider will contact you through our secure, HIPAA-compliant telehealth system. Your consultation will be conducted via a chat-based exchange, offering you the flexibility and convenience of 24/7 access to your provider. You can anticipate a response within 24 hours. Furthermore, as long as your subscription is active, you'll have ongoing access to your medical provider for continuous support and guidance.
We assign providers to our members based on state licensing requirements and the availability of our medical professionals. We understand the importance of comfort and trust in a healthcare relationship. If, for any reason, you prefer not to consult with the assigned provider, please let us know. Our team is committed to accommodating your needs and will endeavor to schedule your appointment with an alternative provider if available.
We ship to all states except: WV, NC, LA, AL and AK.
